Review of VP Debate
I was able to run home after work last night and catch the last have of the debate, and I have to say that I was more than a little impressed with both sides. I was expecting Biden to be a typical politician and waiting for Palin to crack under pressure: neither happened.
I do feel that Biden won the debate with a clearer message while refuting clamis made by Palin against Obama. Yet Palin was able to bring her down-to-earth style to the debate, though I feel the shout out to the school children was a little much for a VP debate – maybe if it had been a town hall meeting in her home town, but not on national television. And, as we’ve seen with her interviews with Katie Couric, Palin was once again avoiding the questions using circumlocutionary rhetoric.
As for some of the issues, here’s a run down:
Deregulation: Biden accused McCain of supporting deregulation of health care, yet this statement is a little misleading. Look to CNN for a fact check here.
Tax Increase: Palin accused Obama of voting 94 time to increase taxes. But again, this could be any vote for a tax increase, even if it was for the wealthiest 1% of the nation. So the figure is a little misleading. CNN fact check here.
